Marine Electrical Technician – Gulf Coast Fleet Support

A day on the water

Sun up on the Gulf Coast. You step aboard a vessel with a work list in hand: a power distribution fault to isolate, a navigation lighting circuit to rewire, and a preventative check on the generator controls. You scan schematics, trace wiring runs, and bring systems back online. By midday, you’re shoulder‑to‑shoulder with welders and mechanics coordinating schedules to keep the project moving. In the afternoon, you log every repair, test, and part used—clear documentation that leaves no doubt about what was done and why. Before you leave, you button up a safety inspection and confirm the vessel is ready for sea trials.

Core responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair electrical systems on a range of marine vessels.
• Diagnose faults quickly and deliver effective, timely fixes.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on shipboard electrical equipment.
• Work closely with other trades to ensure smooth, on‑schedule project execution.
• Follow all maritime safety protocols and regulations to protect people and assets.
• Document all work performed; maintain accurate records of repairs and installations.
• Keep current with emerging marine electrical technologies and best practices.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electrical systems is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience as a marine/maritime electrician or closely related role.
• Expertise in wiring, shipboard power systems, and troubleshooting methods.
• Knowledge of maritime safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and sharp attention to detail.
• Clear communicator and reliable team player.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and travel along the Gulf Coast as needed.
