CNC Precision Machining Specialist

What your third shift looks like

You arrive at our Newington, NH facility and check in with the Machine Shop Supervisor. On this fully onsite team, you’ll move between qualified machine tools, prepare set-ups, and make sure every part meets exacting specifications. You’ll select tooling and gages, validate prints, and determine when custom jigs or fixtures are needed—then build them. Throughout the shift, you’ll uphold 5S, housekeeping, safety, and criticality procedures while running one or multiple machines based on your qualifications and proximity.

Shift: 3rd shift only. Location: 100% onsite in Newington, NH. Local candidates required.

Core impact

  • Operate metal-removal and metal-forming equipment within the manufacturing department.
  • Set up machine tools, components, and castings to meet print specifications; recognize that setup time varies with size and complexity.
  • Select and use precision measuring instruments and appropriate hand tools.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, and written or verbal instructions (not to conflict with PP-09-01).
  • Perform close-tolerance work to engineering drawings and documented procedures.
  • Operate any machine tool types for which you are qualified on the department training matrix with minimal additional training.
  • Determine when specialized jigs/fixtures are required and fabricate them.
  • Own in-process quality to ensure specified tolerances are achieved.
  • Adhere to 5S methods; maintain housekeeping, safety, and criticality standards.
  • Load—or coordinate the loading of—your machining center.
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously when proximity, training, and qualifications allow.
  • Optionally modify or troubleshoot machining programs as permitted by your machine qualification and training.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with demonstrated operational proficiency as a Westinghouse – Newington Machinist B or recognized equivalent.
  • Knowledge of CNC G-code.
  • Expertise with tooling, fixtures, and machine set-ups to achieve high-quality components.
  • Familiarity with and regular practice of 5S principles.
  • Knowledge of programming.
