We are seeking a detail-oriented Offshore Underwriting Specialist to join our team. The role involves preparing and processing loan and rental application files before they reach the underwriting phase. This includes document verification, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of income verification processes, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex financial documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process credit score records, retrieve credit reports, and determine eligibility thresholds.
- Conduct background checks, document findings, and flag issues for review.
- Verify income documentation for traditional, self-employed, and other non-traditional income sources.
- Review bank statements, P&L statements, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with applicants to address missing or unclear documentation and provide templates when necessary.
- Ensure files are complete and compliant before submission to underwriting.
- Troubleshoot common challenges, such as inconsistent bank deposits or unverified income, with proactive solutions.
- Adhere to minimum income requirements and cash reserve guidelines, recommending alternatives where necessary.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in loan processing, underwriting, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in reviewing diverse income sources and financial documents.
- Strong understanding of credit and background verification processes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with applicants professionally.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple files simultaneously.
- Familiarity with income verification tools and platforms is a plus.
