Imagine arriving on site at a nuclear facility, reporting to the On-Site Manager, and getting hands-on with critical AOV systems that keep power safe and reliable. As a Nuclear AOV Diagnostic Specialist with WECTEC Staffing Services— a wholly-owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC— you’ll travel to client plants, apply expert diagnostics, and help deliver first-time quality repairs that support Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.
Assignment Snapshot

- Duration: Short-term, approximately 4–6 weeks

A Day in the Life
You’ll step into a fast-paced environment where precision matters. Your day begins with a review of work orders and safety briefs, followed by functional post-maintenance testing and diagnostic evaluations on a range of AOV types and sizes. You’ll analyze results, recommend corrective actions, and document your work to the highest standards.
What You'll Handle
- Apply specialized know-how in AOV analysis and maintenance in the field.
- Execute and assess AOV testing during functional post-maintenance checks, diagnostics, corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Provide on-the-ground support for all AOV maintenance activities.
- Interpret diagnostic data and recommend targeted repairs.
- Verify mechanical safety clearance requirements and follow established procedures.
- Complete tasks per work orders and capture each step in detailed documentation.
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Conduct diagnostic testing to customer specifications.
- Prioritize personal and team safety while protecting plant equipment.
- Identify and escalate needed repairs to achieve first-time quality.
- Perform all work within customer/contractor procedural parameters.
- Finish required site and contractor training.
- Thoroughly document repairs, testing, and assembly work.
- Use human performance tools (e.g., 2-minute rule, ALARA).
- Assist with additional tasks within your capabilities as directed by management.
- Work overtime as needed, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
About You
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational/technical training or EPRI qualifications.
- 3+ years of hands-on nuclear industry experience in diagnostic testing and AOV/actuator valve and General Valve maintenance.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude; able to read blueprints, schematics, and technical docs.
- U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training in reactor maintenance or operations.
- Strong track record of performance with positive client/contractor feedback.
- Comfort with basic hand tools, electrical instruments, and diagnostic tools; perform maintenance following OSHA or client electrical/mechanical safety requirements.
- Complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements, which may include practical and written skills assessments, computer-based training, medical, psychological, background, and substance abuse screenings.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $80.00/hour to $90.00/hour.
