Join Dexter’s Odessa distribution team as a local Class A professional and put your skills to work serving our customers across the region. We’re offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus paid in two installments (after 30 days and after 6 months) to welcome you aboard.
A day in this seat
You’ll pre-trip your automatic International day cab with a flatbed, confirm your load, and tarp when needed. Then you’ll roll out on a dedicated local route delivering trailer and trailer components to Dexter customers, with the occasional intercity or multi-state run. You document cargo, communicate with dispatch, and adapt to traffic and weather while following all traffic laws. Post-trip, you’ll inspect equipment, record any defects, and close out your logs.
What you’ll handle
- Operate a tractor–trailer safely on customer routes; take special precautions as conditions require
- Secure and tarp loads as needed
- Accurately record cargo type and quantities
- Stay in touch with dispatch and report any road incidents immediately
- Continuously monitor road and congestion conditions
- Comply with all applicable traffic laws and company policies
- Perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections; document and report defects
- Follow company accident procedures should an incident occur
- Maintain activity logs/ELD records
- Report serious mechanical issues promptly
- Take required rest periods; practice defensive, safety-first driving
Equipment
Automatic International Day Cab Truck with flatbed
What you bring
- Age 21 or older
- Valid Class A CDL
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience, including experience with manual transmissions
- Flatbed background preferred
- Proven track record as a commercial truck driver
- Clean MVR; no DWI/DUI in the last 3 years
- Ability to drive long hours and travel when required
- Working knowledge of DOT rules and trucking regulations
- Current DOT Medical Card and CDL
