Do you enjoy helping people? Are you a compassionate and people focused person?

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people who are in problem debt and help them find a way forward?

Citizens Advice Manchester is a charity which provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice. We have exciting opportunities for you to join our team as a Trainee Money Adviser on a new innovative project.

We’ve secured significant funding from the Money and Pensions Service to provide an England-wide phone and digital advice service for at least the next 3 years. The service is free to clients struggling with debts and will offer a full range of support helping clients find a way forward with their debts. As households struggle with the cost of living crisis this new service will be essential and will deliver impactful outcomes making a tangible difference to people’s lives.

You will join our existing team of experienced Caseworkers who will deliver the service in collaboration with 8 other local Citizens Advice around the country, working together as one contact centre to help almost 200,000 people per year. The contact centre operates shifts covering the hours Monday to Friday (9am to 8pm) and Saturday (9am to 1pm).

This is an excellent chance for Trainee Money Advisers to receive comprehensive training to develop their career in the advice sector, achieving competence as a Money Advice Caseworker within 12-18 months (attracting a salary increase to £29,224). Successful applicants will have:

  • At least 6 months experience of delivering excellent customer service in a regulated environment such as banking, insurance or a contact centre.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience of listening and questioning with an ability to manage challenging situations.
