Aerospace Metrology CMM Programmer (PC-DMIS)

  • Des Plaines, IL
  • 30 - 38 USD Hourly

Shape Precision That Takes Flight

Step into a role where your programming skill directly safeguards the accuracy of flight-critical hardware. As an Aerospace Metrology CMM Programmer, you’ll transform engineering intent into precise, repeatable measurement routines that keep components within spec and aircraft in the sky.

A Day in the Life

You begin by verifying CMM health and calibration, then architect robust PC-DMIS routines for complex aerospace geometries. A first article is on deck—you run the program, validate results against drawings and GD&T callouts, and collaborate with engineering to fine-tune features and datums. Later, you refine routines for production checks, document every measurement, and coach a junior technician through best practices. When a dimensional discrepancy surfaces, you diagnose the root cause and optimize the approach to restore efficiency and accuracy.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement CMM programs for aerospace components using PC-DMIS (or comparable platforms).
  • Execute first article inspections and recurring in-process/final checks aligned to engineering specifications and GD&T.
  • Partner with engineering and production to streamline measurement strategies and bolster product quality.
  • Maintain, verify, and calibrate CMM equipment to ensure trustworthy results.
  • Capture, organize, and retain inspection data, reports, and quality records.
  • Troubleshoot measurement challenges and introduce improvements that enhance throughput and precision.
  • Train and mentor junior team members on CMM programming and inspection techniques.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience programming CMMs in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of GD&T and its application to complex geometries.
  • Proficiency in PC-DMIS or equivalent CMM software.
  • Strong analytical thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and clear documentation habits.
  • Collaborative mindset and effective written/verbal communication skills.

If precision, problem-solving, and aerospace craftsmanship energize you, this role will feel like home.
